In Girona w. J.U. & S.P.
We'll do it all: We'll make the syllables forget their brothers and stop
Calling their parents. We'll
replace all your friends with lookalikes
& all your Sundays will be dramatic reenactments of the
present moment. My words will happily wait and put mirrors against mirrors
(Laughing in acrostics at the stilted nature of their own metaphors)
Afterwards we'll slow-roast our hopes in haunted houses over
collective heats of their potential energies
Or perhaps that of the ghosts in the hallways.
& every line will deliver like orgasm or sunburn.
But at least the archway will never forget the shape of your figure hunched
The space your carved out in it, Ravenous,
Indeed it will rest easy & perhaps play an old VCR, prayer circle frayed into cytoplasm, girl,8,
Forehead burning, finger calmly smooths the roughs out of the limestone,
As if any other choice would be a slight against the nights spent in
Adoration, of what could never become tactile
- the moon is still stonefaced in terror in 1618.
