In Heaven’s Arms Poem by Michael P. Johnson

In Heaven’s Arms

Filthy and lost, foolish and blind
I rambled through night
A scourge to God and all mankind
Until I saw The Light

Responsible for all I’d done
For all I’d ever do
I saw The Truth of Christ God’s Son
And prayed to start anew

From Heaven’s eyes I couldn’t hide
My heart could understand
Casting indifference far aside
I reached for Jesus’ hand

I felt the warmth His awesome love
His mighty arms about
The sweet embrace of Heaven’s dove
And left behind all doubt

Just like an eagle in the sky
Upon The Wind I soared
Blissful, content flying so high
In presence of The Lord

In company of The King of kings
Creator Christ divine
From depth of soul my heart loud sings
Eternal life is mine

Eternal love eternal peace
My every need supplied
All this and more will never cease
Beyond the great divide

What have I done what have I said?
What thought was so sublime?
That God should raise me from the dead
To live beyond all time
