In Life, At Times… Poem by Dr John Celes

In Life, At Times…

When caught in traffic block and you can't move,
You have to wait with patience till 'tis cleared,
For you cannot proceed forward or turn -
Avoid such roads and take another route.

When caught in landslip in the road ahead,
You have to summon help and clear the stones;
And taking short-cuts could be dangerous,
As mountain-sides and hills could spell your doom.

When bone is broken, splint must be applied,
And rest to part ensured for needed time,
And movement, weight-bearing when pain is gone,
With physiotherapy when all is well.

When tyre's punctured, you shouldn't drive on long,
But fix the stepney - only then you move;
For driving otherwise would be foolish,
And lead to further accidents en way.

When storms in life cause chaos and upsets,
A place of safety, you must choose and wait,
Until calm comes to where you stay on earth;
Anticipation helps you be prepared.

When life takes you rough terrain and roads,
You've never tread, you've got to wary be,
For any false step leads to alien land,
Where foes of many kind could pounce on you.

When life's turmoil is insurmountable,
And future seems too gloomy and so bleak,
One's will-power and spirits must be kept
And prayer brings the success of your dreams.
