In My Dreams - Poem by Correina MacRae

I’m so scared
what do I do?
I can run but I
cannot hide from you.

In my dreams
you are the devil, that
chases after me
through the night.
You may think that you
can win this one,
but I haven’t yet
Begun to fight.

In my dreams
while you are chasing me,
I turn around and stare
I see you in the distance,
your black cape, in your eyes
an evil glare.
Then, as I am terrified,
can’t talk, or breathe, or move.
An Angel takes me by the hand
and leads me away from you.

In my dreams
I am now safe,
you didn’t get to hurt me,
but, in reality when I am
awake, I know how badly
You have burned me.
