In My Old Age I Hunger For Life More And More

Rating: 5.0

In my old age I hunger for life and more life
I hunger to be young again
To know again the eagerness and strength
To wish to meet to see to be
To love to laugh to find happiness and joy
To go beyond what I am
Into other worlds
To be back there where I was once
In so many different scenes and places
Only now with the wisdom and strength
To do what so often could not do
Seize the day the light the love
And be enraptured in contending with the challenge of all
As a hero the hero of my own story should have been
I long for life I will never know again
And in the regret of knowing this
The hard simple pleasure of being alive still
Moves me with joy and hope
