In Pursuit Of My Dream Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

In Pursuit Of My Dream

I have passed the gates of pettiness
Gone through the pages of the tabloids
Entered the library of knowledge
Sat down with the wise ones
Inside the classroom of tolerance
Patience is a virtue, wisdom is a path inside the realm of the spirit
I don't have time to be insecure
I have to expand my worldview
And be like a migrating bird
Refuse to see imaginary or man-made boundaries
Geographical demarcations, tribal or racial colors and religions doctrines
I have to pass through material and immaterial spaces
I have to find the land where opportunities are plentiful
Away from the land of prejudice, corruption and selfishness
It is not an easy assignment
It is giving me sleepless nights
It was not in the syllabus at school
It was not even part of the extracurricular activities
No one prepared me for this task
In pursuit of my dream, I am relentless
I will open silos of questions
And drink from the river of the spirit
It is not a great feeling sometimes
Like I have been injected with numbness
My house is full of expectations
But I have no time for attachments
I have to set myself free
And fly to the cosmic realm of dreams
I have to retrieve my dream from the vault of our collective consciousness
It is not an easy task, there are people standing on my way
Resources are limited and storms are everywhere
In pursuit of my dream, I have found solace in Silence
Like a beam of nothingness, I am empty of worries and fears
My head is not stitched to the soft pillow of life
My dream is my only destination
Let's meet there, where the golden gates are wide open
The impossible is possible and dreams are made
