In That Moment Poem by Chistopher Rog

In That Moment

She?
Who is she?
Where was she?
And would those eyes have still stirred me then?
Back when my faith was lost?

In that moment they did. In that moment.

Is this fleeting? Like a breeze will it leave as quickly as it came? Have I to only to enjoy the moment knowing it may be the last?

Those eyes stir me. They move me. They leave me wanting more. Always more.
And in that moment the world slows as we step off together in a place far more still and quiet. She peers into me and sees what no one else can see....in that moment.

Who is she?
Where was she?
Why do those eyes stir me?

Behind a partially opened door I see things. Behind a thinly veiled smile I see the who. I see the where.

In that moment I see.

Quickly the moment is gone. The windows to her soul boarded up like an abandoned cathedral. A melancholy beauty.

Can I still come in from the storm to worship?
Is there still faith residing within these walls?
Or has faith been lost? You still have one last parishioner who wishes to say a prayer.
Will it fall on def ears?

In that moment. In that moment I have faith.

When I look through the broken windows of that abandoned cathedral I still see the beauty of the stained glass left behind. I see what once was and what could be.

And in that moment when the earth stills and her eyes meet mine.......
In that moment my faith returns.

Will that grand cathedral seat once more? Is she too far gone to echo the sermon of love?

Perhaps one last sermon. Perhaps one last parishioner who has faith.

Are these hallowed walls to remain empty? Will I get the chance to say MY prayer?
Or am I too late.........

Has the moment passed?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Lost in a world where love seems hopeless you find faith in a stranger's eyes. A person, though broken like me, makes you believe that love could be possible once more.
