In That Mothers Way Poem by Scott Martin

In That Mothers Way

As you grow older, and you have some time alone.
When no one's around, and you turn off the phone.
You can think about your childhood, and how it was back then.
You might even get some paper, and write it down in pen.
Of what those days were like, of growing up at home.
And what your mother meant to you, in this time alone.
Of all the things she did, each and everyday.
Always being there for us, IN THAT MOTHERS WAY.
To helping with the Boo Boo's, early in our lives.
The cuts, scrapes, and bruises, the chicken pox and hives.
To putting that cold washcloth, on that fever head.
And saying prayers with us, as she tucked us in to bed.
To getting us prepared for school, to catch the bus on time.
And after getting off the bus, our mother there you'd find.
To welcome us home from school, and asking about our day.
The pride you took in what we did, IN THAT MOTHERS WAY.
You helped us grow each day, in our childhood life.
You help raise us through, the good times and the strife.
Always being a room mother, during our days in school.
Helping other children, learn the golden rule.
The way you welcomed all our friends, and opened up our home.
The love you gave all of them, as if they were your own.
And as the three of us matured, then came our college days.
Your love was always with us, IN THAT MOTHERS WAY.
Then the son's and the daughter, flew from the nest.
And always hoped and prayed for you, nothing but the best.
But then the years would change, and by yourself you'd be
In a home with no one, oh the difference can't you see?
But many people prayed for you, that God would fill your heart.
Providing you a new love, a new life from which to start.
And as God has always proven, with each of us he'll stay.
As he taught you how to love, IN THAT MOTHERS WAY.
But God has his time line, that's not as fast as ours.
The time seems to stand still, and a minute seems an hour.
Yet if we truly trust in him, and patience we can show.
Then God will provide you, the best man that he knows.
And so today God gives you, a new love for your life.
Who will love you always, and be thrilled you are his wife!
So now we're here for you mom, on your wedding day.
To share that love you taught us, IN THAT MOTHERS WAY!

We Love You Mom!
