In The Days I Could Walk Without Pain Poem by Shalom Freedman

In The Days I Could Walk Without Pain

In the days when I could walk without pain
And loved just looking as I walked
And sang within myself
And heard the poetry of others
And felt life's beauty in a kind innocent way
In the days when I could walk without pain
In those happy days not long ago
I knew one day I would not walk that way
And wonder now
If ever again
The road will be an open
And each step
A joyful one.
