In The Future Poem by Ray Andrews

In The Future

Can you imagine traveling
Flying amonst the stars?
Or snooping around the surfaces
Of Mercury and Mars?

Wrap your gentle mind around
Moving half the speed of light
Or seeing welcome peace on earth
Where people cease to fight

Conceive of a new computer
Whose speed is so terribly fast
That it answers many questions
Before they're even asked

Embrace the notion of newness
It happens every day
We often think it a nuisance
Just getting in the way

Our ancestors had no idea
Of cars, or flights or germs
They had to deal daily
With life's own present terms

Sure as rain and sun and wind
For all there will be new times
I just hope that one thing unchanged
Will be wonderful poems and rhymes
