In The Mirror - Poem by maggie signaigo

when I look in the mirror
I do not see
what other people do
when they look at me
now mirrors are handy
for styling your hair
when I look in the mirror
I see what's not there

now the mirror works fine
I can see other things
like the lines on my face
but not the wisdom they bring
now maybe it's there
other people say I’m smart
will it arrive I wonder
before my looks depart?

I see the worry in my eyes
the bad taste in my mouth
and the regret in my heart
I can never let out
it spins 'round and 'round
like the thoughts in my head
things I shouldn't have done
things I should have said

I see the pain in my ass
that my boyfriend is
I see a girl so very sure
she will never be his
oh I know he loves me
and he treats me well
but this notion of marriage
he's unable to sell

I see a girl who can't decide
which shoes to wear
so she buys them all...
mostly they are spares
they sit in the closet
with her hopes and dreams
like last years styles
and outgrown jeans

maybe I should break it
I truly believe
seven years of bad luck
would be a reprieve
it would seem like a minute
I’d take that chance...
seven years of bad luck?
Dude I paid in advance
