Free Milk Poem by maggie signaigo

Free Milk

Rating: 1.5

'They won't buy the cow
if they get the milk for free'
I remember my mom
saying this to me...
But I didn't understand...
I've never been on a farm
I always seemed to fall
for all their boyish charm.

I was certainly a sucker
for their lies and lines...
I remember for a while
I even tried to count the times
that I gave in and consented...
let them have their way.
My regret and bad memories
are the price I have to pay.

So it was Billy on the front porch
in the backseat once with Teddy
and Linda's cousin...home from college
for him I was not ready.
I didn't really know him
now I can't recall his name.
I'm not sure he even asked mine
it didn't matter for his game.

Now Paul seemed kinda special
but I never got the chance
to know him any better
after our horizontal dance.
And Steve he took me places
that I'd never been before
but when it was all over
I was crying on the floor.

And I think I learned a lot about
guys and what they'll do
It seems they'll say and do most anything
to get inside of you.
I guess it's just an ego thing
and no doubt testosterone
plays a role in all they do
in their quest for the unknown.

But it could have been much worse
I avoided AIDS and STD's
mostly I was careful
in my efforts to appease.
So mothers if you're reading this
and you have a daughter now
make sure she understands the story
about free milk and a cow!

while i'm not much for poems with a 'moral', your subject matter is certainly original. Jake
