In The Name Of Religion Poem by Kalyani Pradhan

In The Name Of Religion

Rating: 5.0

He was burnt in the name of religion,
He kept on screaming,
Slowly he suffocated and died.
Neither the law saw anything,
Nor anyone heard its call,
Justice was burnt in that fire
And humanity also died.

Is being born in any religion a punishment?
Even the always laughing family is strangled.
Who created this religion?
The religion in which man has lost his humanity.

He left this world,
You remained silent like a stone.
Is your conscience not cursing you?
Is your heart not crying with pain?

The time will come when this feeling will haunt you,
The death of innocent will make you cry,
Then you will curse yourself,
You will never be able to live in peace.

If you cannot do anything,
Then you would have raised your voice for them,
If you could not do it,
Then you would have expressed their pain through your words.
So perhaps today no innocent person would be
Thrown into the fire of hatred.
The society which is engulfed in the lap of hatred,
Perhaps love would have blossomed there.
