In The Night Poem by Nicholas Peter

In The Night

The moon shone brilliantly
against the night sky
and the rain fell gently
on our bodies.

Skin to grass
we laid by each other
Anciently-wrought connections
in the dark black
of holy night.

You're like devil-fire
bright and fierce
sent to tempt
and coerce
the receptors of easy fleshy pleasure
to explode
a dynamo of Heaven and Hell
mixed into bright, brilliant beauty.

I look over at you
At you!
You look like Aphrodite
Radiant
from shiny hair
to supple body
to holy clitoris
and maelstrom kiss.

Nothing could touch you
painted against the night sky
a golden bond
carried in the mind.
