In The Park, A Picnic Poem by Barbara James

In The Park, A Picnic

Rating: 5.0

Better to sit beneath a tree
than to stay in idle chatter.

shadows of branches,
sparrows to greet me
a few crumbs then sheer delight.

what a fine party!
fluttering wings
with sun behind!
birds on limbs
assess the scene.

Squinting squinting
up through branches,
through birds, through leaves
searching for some thing

And then I know

To me, this
is every tree I've ever seen
and the same blue sky
I've known for eons.

Softly, gently beautiful. There's something special about the last verse.......very evocative. Love, Fran xx
