All began like an imperishable dream,
With the glory of youthful, tender beauty,
Blooming tantalizing passion, it would seem,
Source of voluptuous sensuality.
The hours fragrantly scented to the extreme,
Bright with laughter, filled with alacrity,
The time when fervent love reigned supreme,
And was glorious in its chemistry.
Then, the years took their inescapable toll,
Their beauty vanished like smoke in the breeze,
Inexorable in its timely goal,
A pitiless world of age and disease,
A frail aging that vitality stole,
All gone, but memories for their thought to tease.
