In The World's Net Poem by manju prasannan pillai

In The World's Net

They hold you tight.
friends, family
friends of family
smiling grocers
approving aunts
amorous lovers
neighbours
lawyers
priests
faces-familiar faces
that wave to you
across the street.

They hold you
in their net.
shrink you
into their palms,

the world is the tight torque
of the fine people we know,
and they hold you tight
in their tight embrace
as we hold them too.
breathing,
smiling
loving
living
with no where else to go.
