In This Time Poem by Rosalinda Flores Martinez

In This Time

This time wrath has fallen to us
Sometimes it scatters like dust
Shield your face so it won't get into your eyes
or mouth
It is not shadow, it cannot enter your pores
it cannot tint your soul
it dies with water and ethyl
it dies with soap and scrubbing
and killing it with care and healthy washing.
I lament with our brave race of God's creations
Here now, we have to plow together,
let grow a fresh race of the earth's life.
An ocean of tears, sobs in my heart
for my brothers and sisters
in the battle,
for all of us who
dare all these troubles
and fight in the vows of God
May our Father come to our aid
May his mercy reach all who hunger
who suffer
and those who carry only filaments of hope
God is love!God is light!
This certain voice of reassurance tells us a story that
belief is what we're given to take care of.
Lord, redeem us in Your power
Let the angels and Saints be with us all
now and forever.
