In This World Poem by erin maher

In This World

The stars in the night
the moon in the sky
with so many people in this world
why do so many say goodbye?

How can a life
that many people would pick
be taken away
with the sound of a click?

Why doesn't anyone see
the pain in their eyes
is no body listening
to these peoples cries?

This world could be different
if more people would care
there's so much love in our hearts
why doesn't anybody share?

There's people with hunger
and no money to their name
then there's people with money
who only care about fame

The terrible things we go through
all the stuff that we see
doesn't anyone realize
what this world could be?

A war that is fought
each and every day
the crime and the gangs
that will never go away

A young girl's innocence
is sold on the street
for a sick man's pleasure
as she's bruised and beat

The kids in fear
with a gun to their head
the situations they get into
they may end up dead

The children on the streets
that have no home
sleeping on benches
or on gravel and stone

In this world
a lot of things go wrong
if everyone cared
we could all get along.
