In Waking Dreams Poem by Philip St. Cyr

In Waking Dreams

I see you in my dreams
I close my eyes and keep you near
You visit me every night
but when I awake, you disappear
I sometimes see you when I day dream
I see you everywhere
but when reality catches up to me
I can't find you anywhere

Why do you keep on hiding,
from me when I'm awake?
I see you at the start of dusk
Yet you vanish by daybreak
I need a vision that I can grasp
and one I can hold on to
although catching you is no easy task
I'll soon get a hold of you

I'll close the blinds and dim the lights
then lay down in my bed
I'll close my eyes and meditate
while thinking in my head;
You'll visit me tonight
but I will be ready
because I will not go to sleep
and if this is more than just a dream,
I'll catch you while you creep.
