In Your Eyes A Friend Shines Poem by Joseph Blitch

In Your Eyes A Friend Shines

The first time I saw you I felt your sadness;
I could see your world filled with madness;
Like a ship tossed to and fro wrecked at sea;
Powerless to chart a way to harbor's safety;
All their heartlessness was served a'la cart;
I wasn't there as they tore your world apart;
I'm told eyes are the windows of the soul;
The blues radiate from deep within untold;
The staunchness of your face tells the story;
Distress fills the void where once was glory;
I could not have postponed the hopeless day;
Nor change melancholy into something gay;
No one alone controls a tide's ebb and flow;
Is powerless as to where the wind doth blow;
Two touching in agreement; unlimited gain;
Prayer changes things; Glee instead of pain;
But as a true friend at your side take a stand;
To the Creator for help I'd lift up your hand;
With carnal eye we cannot see; He is there;
Wanting us to seek Him; In His glory share!
