Including Myself Poem by O. A.

Including Myself

Including Myself

Everyone has to try harder to get along
Including myself
Including me...
Like a temple with worshipers who pray
Like a cruiseship with travelers who stay
Like a church with parishoners who remain
Loyal to each other, each and every day
Like a resort where people don't complain
Because it is the right thing to do
Because it is the right thing to do
If you believe in a higher power
If you believe that there is a life
Beyond our final days and hours...

Racial slurs, obtuse words,
Anti-gay, anti-love and hateful words,
Only makes us believe in a parrallel world
Where things are in utter chaos
Where things like kindness are lost
Where demons do things that cost
People like you and me our happiness
And believe me,
You want to be happy
I want to be happy too
So, everyone has to try harder to get along
Including myself
Including me...
'Tolerance'
Is the key
Between us:
You and me.

As we move
Forward now
As humans woke
By discrepancies
By inequalities
By things left unsaid
Unclear, and undone...

O.A.
