Inexhaustible Poem by Windsor Guadalupe Jr

Inexhaustible

Forgive this:
A melancholia behind
The expanse of the seas;
Transatlantic settling.
A harrowing marring.

I am taken
By subtle meanderings;
I think myself a fool
Sometimes.

I want
To memorize
The sharpness of your grin
Or what makes you grin
To be exact
And why the stars
Hold faults
And why we never care.

I want to know
How you sleep
And how you wake
The world with
Quaking breaths
And lucid intervals.
I want to know how
You dress up
And why.
I want to know
Your perfume
And coil it around my neck
Until I wield it
Like a laughing heart.

I want to know
Your ribs
Your simian jaw
The contour of your nose
The vacuous eyes
That pierce through the vacuity.
I want to know
How fast you can run
As we sift through the madness
Like trains.
I want to know
If you weep
Whilst it rains,
Or if you rain down
While the others weep.

I want to know
Your scars
Your wonderful cicatrix
I wonder
How many of your
Bones are fractured
And how many hearts
Have you broken
Before, now and perhaps
Later, now or never.
I want to know
How you keep
Your tremors sleeping
Inside your heart
As you wallow in a height
That wuthers.

This inexhaustible flame
Ravages,
And I want to know
Why,
And I want you to
Hold this flame
In me.
