Infection Poem by Cory Fox

Infection

Lush fields reach; arid deserts sprawl
Mountains tower over mild seas
I'll watch them fade so seamlessly
From where only God can marvel
Perfection in deformity

Why oh why did I ever care?
I wish mankind would think things twice
Men pride in the atoms they splice
Gorge themselves with bloody warfare
Like ants bringing grains of rice

Our feeble gouges in your crust
Are what we achieve with each try
If only I had wings to fly
I'd go where mankind's roar is hushed
And stay forever in the sky
