Innocence Poem by Samanda Jane Skerry

Innocence

I remember when i was three
My brothers cot was in my room beside me
I went to sleep but awoke with a start
Feeling scared with a beating heart
Hands touching me causing pain
I just wanted a cuddle
But the next night it would all start again
Too scared to cry out petrified and alone
To be told i would go into a home
Never to see my family again
So i layed and cried tears of rain
Innocence lost never to be found
But it made me stronger and to stand my ground
Dont be like me and afraid to tell
Just open your mouth wide and yell
Scream and shout
Tell someone what its all about
For they are wrong in what they do
In no way should the blame lay on you
