Insomnia. Poem by Elycia_Medina15 Medina

Insomnia.

Sleep.
An average night of sleep for an adolescent is 8-10 hours.
So why am I only getting 4-5 hours of inconsistent rest.?
I'm up and I'm down and I can't fall asleep.
What's that?
Did you see that? Its the shadow on my wall the scratching in my closet and the tapping under my bed...
The swooshing curtains even though the air vent is on the other side of the room..
It's the feeling if being watched every time I close my eyes.
As I drift off to sleep and my vision blurs.
I can't feel anything.
Then suddenly it feels like a bolt of lightning, was jolted through my body and the electricity at my fingertips start to crackle.
The air becomes thick as I hear my name being whispered in a million different voices.
Yelling for help in a hushed tone.
They are in pain.
But who are they who is that shadow on my wall begging for help? Taking me from my sleep..
