In the starry night
I sit and stare
At the people walking the streets
I wonder what they think
As the world around them
Is brightened by artificial lights
At the opened shutters
I wonder what they do
In the privacy
Of their little homes
At the waitress
I wonder how she feels
With so many people
Trying to get her attention
At the starry night
That brightens the sky
Even when the sun's not out
I wonder what it would be like
Somewhere else
When the sun is out
And I am not here
Sitting and staring
At the dark starry night
