The mind is like a garden bed,
Where seeds of thought are gently spread.
It is the power to reach and find,
The logic hidden in the mind.
We reason through the dark and light,
To make the tangled choices right.
Beyond the pulse of sudden fear,
The thinking mind can make things clear.
But two things stand within the frame,
Though often called by the same name.
Intelligence is what you hold,
A toolbox waiting to unfold.
It is the gift you start within,
To learn the game and how to win,
The innate reach to adapt and grow,
Before you even start to know.
But intellect is how you use,
The tools that you were born to choose.
It is the act of looking deep,
Where wisdom's quiet secrets sleep.
One is the metal, sharp and keen,
The other, how the edge is seen.
One is the start, the natural way,
The other, how you spend the day.
