Into Some Kind Of A Powder Burn. Poem by RIC BASTASA

Into Some Kind Of A Powder Burn.

do not measure
my emotions with
that publication
of yours,
i am not what
you publish me
to be.

i am a surge and
no amount of
posting can make
me still

i am the wind and
no amount of hands
can close me

i am a bubble
i burst without you
holding any of
my shimmer.

let me pass
do not temp me
with a book
or a piece of paper
do not tempt
me with my name
or a label

i am more of
a flower that blooms
for a day

or that butterfly
that comes our of its
cocoon this minute
spreading its wings

then breaks them all
into some kind of a
powder burn.
