Intolerance Poem by Sameer Ahsan

Intolerance

Rating: 5.0

Unbridled disciples throw sentences, cast violence!
Upon it expect me to endure in silence
Where as I, use my rights to condemn intolerance,
Right away retaliation surpasses forbearance.

Intolerants would obviously retort-
To envelope their intention and faults!
And do label me; unpatriotic, anti-national!
As if they do what is ethical and cultural.

This has been so because government is unresponsive,
When asked about; found talking evasive!
And do let happen what happening under it's nose
As before the former the latter is helpless to oppose.

I fear what direction are we taken to-
Where shadows and shades cast all through
And the sun seems appear far distance
And in darkness India shuffling for sustenance.

What I fear again, might not they mistake me!
Instead should go into the reason deep
Follow the only religion- 'Indianism'
Protect the constitution,
For what only the prime minister takes the oath,
So let me hope that nothing would happen again a better worst.

I don't feel myself informed enough about the goings on politically, socially, or culturally in India to have much comment on the content. Any attempt would simply make me appear more foolish than I am. What I can offer is that, to be able to make something this pragmatic rhyme (and do so quite well) shows a command over the English language that many can admire. Well done sir
