Intruders Poem by Zoe Guillory

Intruders

For we have all become intruders in this place we call home.
Once a timeless Eden, a trashpile of war and lust.
Fresh waters and endless forest have all been thrown.
Thrown up in the air, only to fall. Dead leaves.
Covered by crowded city streets of pollution and people.
The stars are gone.
Street lights light up the smog. Hide the stars
from the unworthy human eyes. Invisible and dead.
But Earth cannot kick us out while we stain her skin
with our own blood. Mother Earth, covered with the remnants
of her children. Ungrateful and greedy creatures.
