Irony - Poem by Jaspreet Mann

These lines are not written for you,
You remember, I said goodbye
And then you looked the other way
Wishing I would stay, now you say,
“These lines are not written for me.”

These lines are not written for you
I don’t see your smile, hide the perfect teeth,
Or the eyes that constantly speak
Of passions strange, your voice is meek,
“These lines are not written for me.”

These lines are not written for you,
I ignore the tender hands that gesticulate
Or the emotions, you so tactfully hide
And the blank smile, as you chide,
“These lines are not written for me.”

These lines are not written for you,
You remember, my tender caress,
My eagerness, your, “come what may”,
My guilt, your lies, now you say,
“These lines are not written for me.”
