Isolation Poem by Patrick O'Reilly

Isolation

Rating: 4.0

I sat in my basement in the dark
TV glow, world news,
Telephone at arms reach,
Computer connecting,
IM’s sold and sent.
Entangled in wires
Untangled in wireless,
Signals over the air selecting useless sounds.
With 65 Billion tiny threads
Stretched from pole to pole,
We spoke to the masses and millions
That we've never met.
Try, try, you can't shut the window to world,
But still
I Was All Alone

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

The net is a wonderous world... but its best trait is that you can turn it off and no one comes to interupt you until you apply the power again... this is a lonely life but it is a controlled loneliness... you can be the centre of attention by pushing a button.... Alison
