It can't be said I'm not a nightbird.
It can't be said I'm not a nightmare.
It can't be said I'm not easy to love.
It can't be said I'm not a sailboat, lucky to be afloat.
It can't be said I'm not as strong as a brick house.
It can't be said huff & puff, I'm not an unwanted gift.
It can't be said I'm not covered in mothballs.
Learning how to think and speak from my mind
It can't be said I'm not drowning in mist.
It can't be said I'm not climbing like vines to live.
It can't be said I'm not falling in love with you.
-Wondering just when I'll die, how much older
Will I be when I'm unable to find magic, beauty
Or mystery in the melting snow?
It can't be said I'm not wasting my time.
Writing poetry all the time
It can't be said I'm not lazy when I'm reading in bed.
Looking for a new idea to fabricate a thread
To break another inner wall and give it some flesh that says
Darling, darling, I loved you best.
Come and climb over and give me a shout, another shot.
Kiss me, it can't be said I'll ever love again if we're not wed tomorrow.
