It Goes On... - Poem by Devon Canfield

It starts with “Hello.”
And ends with “Goodbye.”
But in between,
you want to cry.

A smile is flashed,
a heart is melted.
But in the end,
you know you felt it.

You long to scream
“I love you, I love you…”
And you realize
that it is true.
But soon you come to terms
that this person does not love you.

The conversation changes tone
and emotions go from happy to sad.
But the truth of the matter remains:
Life goes on, no matter how bad.
