It Makes It Easy Poem by Alexis Carter

It Makes It Easy

He lied and laughed at the same time,
but he was actually trying so hard to hang onto life.
Spinning in dizziness from the howling wind
and the brilliant sun.
We closed our eyes as we tried to keep from falling from the top of our
small, narrow cliff.
He’s dreaming about a day without hiding away from his pain,
and I’m watching him silent, unmoving.
I lied when I said I liked pain, did you notice?
Or did you want to cry, thinking about your own problems?
We both do.
Life has become disturbing, unamusing in the least.
We’ve been drowned in emotions, threatened by present and past,
yet we find comfort in ourselves, and it becomes easier to get through.
My love for you…
Your love for me…
It makes it easy.

For awhile.
