It’s Hard For The Rich Poem by Michael P. Johnson

It’s Hard For The Rich

The “Rich” can mean so many things
The obvious apart
What beauty, wisdom and knowledge brings
Can ruin a foolish heart

Some rich may think they have no need
They have it all on earth
But do they have God’s Holy Seed
The way to second birth

More precious than the finest gold
As rich as man may be
He cannot buy what isn’t sold
For Jesus’ Dove comes free!

To be of wealth, is not a shame
Yet fortune’s oft abuse
It’s what we do in Jesus’ name
What sort of life we choose

Wealth finds it hard to seek the Lord
From Christ to gain life’s crown
But not for those for truth afford
To lay their riches down

Before this gem; this humble thought
Can turn a rich man’s head
God’s gold, from Christ must first be bought
To serve once “I” is dead

To self; we die till born again
True wealth will be restored
When Christ inside can truly reign
And be the rich man’s Lord

The camel’s not reduced in size
Yet through the needle’s eye
The rich may walk to gain the prize
No wealth could ever buy…….
