It's Like Drowning Poem by Domenica Statler

It's Like Drowning

Im not about to let go,
not about to forget those moments.
feeling the rush,
the wind against my hands.
Like water in our lungs,
an overwelming sensation,
a great and terrible panic to be alive,
be ready because the fight begins when you breathe in for the first time.
We arent all roses.
but i deffinately see one in you,
thats why i cant hold you,
and ill never be callous enough to pick all the thorns off.
[because i love you for you]
Its no longer about what you are,
Its about how you stand against the world.
so lets go for a walk,
when everyone goes to sleep because they have no intentions of ever wakingup.
And when its time to grow older,
how much of yourself will still be left?
can you look over you shoulder and deal with the aftermath.
who's still standing there is all that matters now,
dont feel alone,
im still here.
