It's No Love! Poem by Oni Omotayo

It's No Love!

Rating: 4.5

O Dearest, Say me well to love…
Make for her a sweet smelling savor
Wipe her tears for she bewail again the fall of her sons
Today, her tent is set afar…
Her cloak is mistaken for valentine.
The glamour of this day holds no sincerity
But for me 'am taking no chances with my life'
The beauty is red, so is the pain
'I saw a thing more bitter than death...'
Thus the cry of the preacher's creed
It's gone before us!
The lamentation of the fallen kings,
Wounds they bore to a day they will never forgive.
Such I forbid, an incurable end!
The blind says its love and the fools set his drums.
Flee a date with the scarlet bait
Today will last no longer than hours.
Pick not the untimely blossom, her trade is much unfair!
The almond trees will bleed, roses will die
And her petals will be gone in the sailing winds
For her guest is an eminent Angel of misery
She is the doom of thy beautiful dreams.
I wept for the errors that come by this day
The breaking dawn of the abominable
Trading destinies since the birth of its lies
Let him; padre of the ancient Rome, a pleasant tale
Saint valentine, the guiltless veil that clad your guilt
Let history guide your pen O friends
For thy love is wrongly spelt
You shall crave the wrath of fate if you defile thy bed.
There is a fall to this end -don't crush the virtues of life.
Oh save thy goblet!
Priestess before the altars of Jerusalem
Save thy crown! Queen in the city of great kings.
Thrones and Altars await thee dear friends...
'Give not thy strength unto women,
-nor thy ways to that which destroy kings'.
Check again this date, perhaps it pays to say never.

I Saw A Thing More Bitter Than Death... Vain glorification of beauty comes with tragedy in the bliss of love. A well articulated poem written with insight. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
