It’s Not The Rich Poem by Michael P. Johnson

It’s Not The Rich

It’s not the Gentile or the Jew
It’s not who think they should
It’s not what man nor masses do
Nor they who say they would

It’s not for those who know God’s word
Nor those in church who sit
It’s not for those the truth have heard
Who fail to do their bit

It’s not the few who say they’re saved
How oft to church we go
Nor who the devil’s yet enslaved
Who think God’s Son to know

It’s not for rich with worldly gold
Nor beauty in its prime
It’s not for those who can’t be told
Nor those who live to crime

But those obeying now God’s will
Who humbly bend their knee
Who hold their cup The Lord to fill
Who drink each Royal decree

Who eat the truth to understand
Who seek God’s face on high
Who meekly serve in Jesus’ hand
Who fail to worship “I”

Who’s thought and deeds are of The Light
Who’ve answered Jesus’ call
Who love their Lord with all their might
Who stand when others fall

It’s these, who’ll see the glory day
Who’ll join their Groom on high
It’s these, who’ll fail to see decay
It’s these, who’ll never die…
