It Takes The Flame Poem by Michael P. Johnson

It Takes The Flame

That God is love, is surely true
That Jesus lived, is plain
But that He’ll dwell inside of you
To some, sounds quite insane

Too long has Satan kept us blind
Unable truth to see
Yet but one spark can light mankind
Can burn and make us free

With failing darkness comes the dawn
God’s Light will surely rise
Sinners through Christ will be reborn
Once truth has opened eyes

We’ll see the Lord, as Heaven’s door
Our shameful lives will change
The devil’s tools we’ll be no more
Then death; will be us strange

Conversion comes when void of sin
When tired of wayward shame
We feel the dwindling filth within
Give way to Jesus’ Flame

Be wise, lay wide today your door
Let Jesus make you whole
Your eyes will see as none before
When truth engulfs your soul

Give to the Lord your heart of stone
Give Christ your foolish pride
Allow Him once of flesh and bone
Consume the filth inside.

Yes God is love, to those who’ll turn
But God can also hate!
Best give His Spirit all to burn
Before it grows too late...
