It Was My Birthday Yesterday Poem by Debbie Maluleke

It Was My Birthday Yesterday

Rating: 3.0

It was my birthday yesterday

It was my birthday yesterday
Never have i felt so invisible
Never have i felt so unwanted and unloved
As if i were nothing more but nasty
As if it were just another ordinary day
Not my special day
Made and still makes me wish that i were dead... sometimes

It was my birthday yesterday
A day that will for me live on forever
In bitter memory
I was ignored by my parents
As if i weren't alive
Or not their child
Barely even spoken to by some of my family
They didn't even notice it was my birthday

But i loved every moment of it
All i head was
My little razor blade so keen and sharp
Here in my bed
My wrist bleeding
And it only made my writs match my heart
