I've Given Up Poem by Anisha Nyambe

I've Given Up

here I am,
worn out and too dead to feel.
head down, I'm too low to heal.
Shakespeare, no poem is real
but my loneliness,
do you dare to steal?

I'm done trying to make a friend
black hole, all nice things have to end
can't you see?
I'm too old to pretend
who next do you recommend?

black eye, my hope has been beaten
solo, has my story been written?
karma on my lap, it's a kitten
talking about the dog once bitten.

I've given up on looking for a way
so slow, I die everyday
Come on,
watch me go astray
now that I have nothing more to say.
