Jacob Poem by Faith Pearson

Jacob

Years ago I promised that I would stay with you forever, and I will keep that promise.
But how can I now that you're dead?
I'll tell you how. I'll stay with you forever.
I'll take your picture from the frame and tie it to my heart.
Every memory we never made,
I will make for both of us.
Every day you couldn't live,
I will live with you in mind.

Even though I can never hear your voice again,
I will always remember your smile.
Even if a day comes when your face does fade,
You never will.
