January Remembered Poem by Greg Dennison

January Remembered

From here you are a star in the morning sky
Commemorating a time
When our hearts collide
Endure with me, beneath these January skies
That hold clarity, contained
Between earth & endless ether above
Here, we took refuge, existing for one another
When we made these deep, blue days our cathedral
And celebrated that which brought us together
When gravity gave way to precision
And nothing was ever the same again
Our lives were linear then
And your eyes were my azimuth
Burning in the atmosphere above
Emeralds burning bright, leading the way
To the horizon
Where I set you free in my heart
And you could run in the night, head on
toward the glowing morning
When we are aligned...look out!
There you emerge, my daybreak
And we cast our souls to these strange latitudes
While moments hurdle passed us
What's left after the cataclysm?
Ruins of memories we wander among
Of sunset thrown against the hillside
Of your face looking back
It's alright though
Because we'll fade together
Everyone does eventually: you radiate
Then you fade
