I think this poem taps at the conundrum of Jealousy. No matter where we are or what state we are in, there is the tendency to compare. The last line is interesting. For I am not their only. One a simple comparison. I love how the two stanzas relate just by the sounds of the words you've chosen: only and lonely....similar in sound and meaning....but not the same. Who is the speaker? Wow; there is a sense that I am hard pressed to decipher running through my mind after reading this (3 times) , that seems to be saying, or feeling, that jealousy is a very human emotion that like love connects, mysteriously, the living, the dead, everyone, in a sort of non-physical way that is beyond yet within every bit of our being. Tremendous poem Patti, I love it.
