Jenny 3 Poem by Tom Courtney

Jenny 3

Jenny come softly
My arms wish to hold you
My cheek yearns to press against yours
My heart is your victim come gently

Jenny speak softly
in the cool of the morning
You slip between sorrow and joy like an angel
Say to me lie to me tell me you’ll leave nevermore

Jenny the clouds dance above you
A red kite soars and dives in your hand
Children frolic and play like there’s never tomorrow
But we had tomorrow didn’t we Jenny
yesterday?
