Jessica Poem by bob barci

Jessica

Been waiting for this day
for so long now -
nine months to be exact.
Can hardly believe
you’re finally here
and right on time.
I hear you tipped the scales at 8lbs. And 12oz..
When I first saw you,
I knew you’d be as beautiful as your mother.
I will definitely try
to spoil you rotten.
What do you expect.
I’m your uncle.
I want to shower you with
toys and things -
and don’t go gettin’ jealous
if I play with them myself.
I need to pick you up
and hold you in my arms.
Yes, you can nibble on my ear
and burp loudly into it.
All I ask is -
that you don’t upchuck your food
like your big sister did.
It’s nice to know that you are here -
a little bundle of mischief
just waiting to explode.
Come to me and I’ll help
you pull some of it off.
What fun we’ll have together!
And why not?
I’m your uncle.

Dedicated to Jessica Marie Galante.
