Jessie Poem by Nisho Olme

Jessie

It’s in the way you never care
And permeates the smile you wear
It’s buried in your chestnut hair
And showers you like rain.
It’s music from your wandering mind
Its 5 am and hard to find
It’s probably even winter nights
That you’ve left full of pain.
Its savage sounds of teenage joy
Of turning back to see a boy
Of crying in a car
Afraid you’ve hurt someone you love.
It’s playing horse in burning sun
It’s losing first, but having fun
It’s wanting something more than life
But putting you above.
It’s stacking hay through waves of heat
And giving in without defeat
It’s Independence Day
Beneath the diamonds in the sky.
But finally it’s that day in band
Its pictures while you held his hand
It’s January 21st
It’s telling you good-bye.
