JESUS- the Salt of the Earth
Prabir Kumar Gayen
Jesus is the salt of the Earth,
Love itself,
The pure manifestation of Love.
Deeply compassionate as the ocean,
His heart overflows with love for all,
For every human soul.
Vast as the infinite sky,
He is called the only-begotten Son of God,
Yet the word "Only" is a sacred symbol,
For He knew:
All are one,
And all may become that Only
Through love, care, and compassion,
Not by killing innocents
In the name of religion.
He preached religiousness, not religion;
Righteousness, not radicalism.
He stood as a living temple of God
When He declared:
"I am the Way, the Light, and the Truth, "
Like the Upanishadic call—
Satyaṁ, Śivaṁ, Sundaram.
Jesus is the door to Divinity,
To the kingdom of the Heavenly Father,
Like all ancient incarnations
Of the Absolute Brahman, the Almighty,
Who returns age after age
With new wisdom,
New ways of living,
So humanity may rediscover
The path to salvation.
He is the echo of timeless knowledge,
The breath of compassion,
The quiet ism of surrender.
He preached the glory of the pathless path,
The harmony of living in peace.
He attained Christhood upon the holy Cross,
Where light and darkness met
In a deeper harmony,
Singing the eternal song of opposites,
The hidden unity within all contradictions.
He brought a symphony of synthesis.
By carrying the Cross upon His own shoulders,
By sacrificing His life,
He revealed the mystery
Of action within inaction,
And inaction within action.
Yet priests misread His silence
And forged punishment into doctrine.
Across the ages, the Church
Has killed innocents
In the name of religion,
Crucifying many Christ-like sons and daughters
Of this wounded Earth,
To uphold an ego called Christianity.
Jesus was innocent;
Christianity became egoistic.
Yet Jesus remains
The living personification of Love.
Can Love ever kill
In the name of rules,
Or philosophy,
Or so-called wisdom?
Compassion is the root of dispassion,
Not compulsion.
Christians are not against Christ,
But the Church, in ego,
Forgot Him.
Does the sky ever kill?
It is the space where all find rest.
Jesus is the ocean;
Christianity is but a wave.
He and His Father are one,
Seen through the eyes of knowledge,
Known in the silence of love.
